Ifpd75,

I'd like to see code 3 make some old trucks like these, but I doubt they would. Kettering Fire Department used to be a volunteer department, however, they are now part career, and part volunteer.

The Ford Engine with the front mount pump, is now privately owned, as is the GMC, by members of the Miami Valley Antique Fire Apparatus Association and SPAAMFAA.

I trained on a Ford Engine with a front mount pump, only it was all red.

Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't...I only remember climbing on it. Actually, its a 1955 GMC,
American so it was about 2 years old when I was 5...now I can't remember 5 minutes ago.

This rig was the very first rig I climbed on, when I was 5 years old. I was fortunate to find it posted online.

Spare Parts

November 5, 2009 by billd

Ken,

Would it be possible for Code 3 to suggest to the companies that make the light bars, beacons, mirrors, ladders, wheels, ect..., to come up with a "Kit Bash" parts bag, for Code 3 releases?

Or even an unpainted "Kit Bash" release unit with many different accessory pieces so that the
builder can decide what emergency lights, a/c units, ladder racks, decals to use ?

     Just asking, if its possible?

I don't remember seeing anything either.

Back in the late 50's and early 60's, before the TV show "EMERGENCY", there was another show depicting the L.A. County F.D. called "Rescue 8". JD should remember this show,  I don't know if Ken is old enough to remember that show. I think it would make a nice addition to everyone's Code 3 collection. I wish I had a picture of the unit.

FDNY Tower Ladder 114 was shown on 10.09/09, news letter.

PTH Mack CF,Chicago Eng 35

October 14, 2009 by billd

The PTH release looks really nice. Unfortunatly, the accuracy to the truck is the colors and the graphics. It looks nothing like the Chicago Eng. 35 photo that came with my Corgi unit. Not
complaining, just sharing.

Progress PA. Mack CF Release

October 4, 2009 by billd

The new Progress  PA. Mack CF model looks really good, and as near as I can tell, pretty darn accurate, when compared to a photograph posted on the internet. Perhaps I will buy this one.

Re: Commemorative Edition FDNY Chief Cassano Engine 31

October 2, 2009 by billd

There is not any chrome on the front left fender, no yellow trim on the step to the rear facing jump seat, and no compartment door (or is that a kick plate)at the bottom the the rear facing jump seat step, as there is in the photo of the actual  engine 31.  More than one mistake I believe, but, the model still looks good.

After the release of the Gettysburg engine, JD promised better quality assurance with the next releases,  with more focas on the detail of the piece. Sadly, since these pieces are made in China, its difficult to
monitor the quality of the piece before it shipped, therefore , some collectors, end up purchasing an
inferior product (pass the kool-aid please) so code 3 will continue to release new models, even though
they have flaws.

LOL, Ok, I havn't seen the ladder 79 model, so I'll take your word for it. Thanks

Re: FDNY Tower Ladder 79

I too struggle at paying such a price for a FDNY model. Can you justify just paying for a painted number and emblem being the only difference from other towers, engines, ladders, rescues, and
battalion chief suburbans.  It all depends on how bad you want it.

A few snorkels would look good in my collection, with different chassis.
