Re: Smaller Cities

August 31, 2008 by ff-engineer-moore

As the title of this post implies, I agree that the uniqueness of some smaller towns and cities would be great. I can say from experience that there are quite a few smaller departments out there with original color schemes and designs on their equipment. And as a collector, variety is what I personally look for when adding to my collection. And personally, I would prefer to support the smaller volunteer departments with whatever small fee they may make off of these models than the big cities who have all paid staffing and money is just handed to them. Not saying that I don't have respect for all the big career departments out there, I would just rather support the little guys out there doing things a little different. Just my 2 cents.

New idea on an old truck

August 24, 2008 by ff-engineer-moore

New to the forums, but I have been collecting Code 3 apparatus throughout my 8 years in the fire service now. Had an idea on an interesting truck for you guys. One of the stations I run with is soon to be purchasing a new truck. The existing one is my focus here. It's a 1970 something (maybe 76) Simon LTI 103' snorkel. From what I understand, there were only several of these made on a Young chassis in this low profile configuration. I'll be sad to see her go, she broke me into truck work. What does everyone think? Sorry for the quality of the pic, I'll try and get a better one if there is interest.
