PTH Mack CF,Chicago Eng 35
i agree all other chicago models are extremely accurate and researched ... why all the sudden the make believe model..... looks like a FDNY rig repainted .... one time i was not excited to get my hands on a CFD code 3
I spoke to Bill at PTH when it was announced, he said it would "cost too much" to do new tooling, so he decided to have the model done with "existing tooling". (I haven't even been able to locate a decent pic of the real #35 to compare the model to!) This is from the same guy that two years ago told me to watch for a Code 3 special run of a Hoffman Estates ambulance, then he decided to have it done by First Gear in 1/34 scale because Code 3 didn't have the correct "newest" Freightliner cab to do the Ambulance 24!! The cab used un the Membership Tanker or Jacksonville Tanker would be "close enough" using his new standards. Actually, they could probably do a halfway decent Ambulance 23 using the International cab from the NYPD International/Saulsbury truck and the ambulance from the Miami-Dade or Jacksonville run with only one body difference.
The Ambulance 24 you picture is an IH, like the First Gear, not a Freightliner as you quote Bill.

Ooops! Ya got me, wasn't thinking (obviously) on that one. But, they could still do the International Cab #23....
