Hi Ken & John , is there any reason why the bumper on this truck is silver and not red , seems to be a lot of talk that it should be red also the photos showed it as red, I am sure there is a reason.

Thanks in advance Matt

I just received mine, and it looks great!  Nice little book comes with it too.  If people are that anal about the color of a bumper, get a life OR a new hobby.  I get soooooooo tired of reading after EVERY time a new model comes out, what is wrong with it.  It's a model.  It's $50.  If you don't like it... don't buy it!

The bumper should have been painted red. It is a mistake.

Ken I truly do appreciate your reply , people can say what they like about Code 3 but what Ken just did there speaks volumes.

Thanks Ken

Excuse me but it is suppose to be a replica of the actual engine. So if the real one has a red bumper the replica should have one to. Besides it was just a question and like Mattau said, Ken stepped up and admitted the mistake. The only way you can ensure that future replicas are correct is to point out mistakes such as this so C3 can get back on track to being the finest replicas manufacturer that they use to be.

I have been one of the most vocal critics on this forum to come down hard on C3, so when Ken steps up and admits there was a problem I want to commend him on that. This shows C3 is trying to make a turn unlike the attitude of the past.

Thanks , I am also one big winger , I think its good that C3 admit it and that show a lot of courage to come and say that.

I love C3 I have a lot of them and hope to get more.

A lot of people where complaining so I thought I would ask the question.

I have just purchased the Progress Engine 321 and another C3 , so although I wine and complain at least I support them by buying the product.

I REALLY LIKE THIS PIECE. WHEN I FIRST BECAME A VOLLY BEFORE BEING HIRED AS A CAREER FF, THESE TYPE OF MACKS ARE THE FIRST UNIT I GOT QUALIFIED ON TO DRIVE. IT REALLY BRINGS BACK MEMORIES! THESE OLD MACKS ARE A GREAT UNIT AND ALWAYS MAKE NICE PIECES. THIS ONE IS REALLY SHARP. I THINK ITS A GREAT JOB! I LOVE THE 31 IN CHINESE.

There is not any chrome on the front left fender, no yellow trim on the step to the rear facing jump seat, and no compartment door (or is that a kick plate)at the bottom the the rear facing jump seat step, as there is in the photo of the actual  engine 31.  More than one mistake I believe, but, the model still looks good.

After the release of the Gettysburg engine, JD promised better quality assurance with the next releases,  with more focas on the detail of the piece. Sadly, since these pieces are made in China, its difficult to
monitor the quality of the piece before it shipped, therefore , some collectors, end up purchasing an
inferior product (pass the kool-aid please) so code 3 will continue to release new models, even though
they have flaws.

I like the chrome bumper. FDNY  might have wanted a chrome bumper, but could afford it. Now they have it. Will sell out quickly.

omg do you all listen to yourself...the factory in china makes the apparatus according to the proofs which JD promised would be more accurate...even to the point of not taking up the suggestion of letting the members view the proofs against the original truck so that there were more eyes to pick up such blatant mistakes....the fact of the matter is Code 3 has resigned itself to being an inferior model maker...and until that culture changes, and it must change from the top, nothing will change

I'll defend JD to the end of the earth on this one. A lot of the blame lies in the factory. The original Progress engine's tampos were 3 times the size they should be so they "could be read." This is a TOY company. Hopefully this recent trip will establish a better idea within the factory of what is expected.

Regarding the prints and throwing that in JD's lap also...I can tell you FIRST hand that the Gettysburg prints were PERFECT. Correct colors...EVERYWHERE. Straight license plate, etc. Between final approval and final production, the mistakes happened. When the final run arrived, the little mistakes were a surprise. I don't expect them to scrap 3000 models because the rotoray is black.

  • Unmatached quality
  • Superior detail
  • Authentic liveries and markings

  • Code 3's own words.
FDhil924 seems to have an inside line on what the proofs looked like...hmmm must be someone special since the rest of us members have no such opportunity....query, with such an inside track how come FDhil924 did not cathc the mistake?

Not an inside track by any means. I did the research/photos/print reviews for the GFD engine (along with 5-6 others from the department). I've got prints that are perfect. The miscommunication happened between print review and final production. Read it again...slower this time.

I can tell you on the prints JD and I finally approved on:
    Chrome Roto-ray
    Chrome behind hard tubes
    License plate Oriented correctly
and some other little things that changed that the internet "experts" haven't screamed about yet.

But...this is about the C Engine31 that honors the chief, not the other pieces. I will most likely pick it up for WHO it honors, not for what color the bumper is. We shall see.

Looks like you didn't "cathc" YOUR mistake either!  If you don't like the trucks... move on.
