THE MORE EYES THE BETTER

Since there seems be a rash of mishaps with quality control, how about putting the future proofs in the workshop and letting the collectors look for missing things....bet the black under the windshield would not have happened if you let the collectors look at the proofs
You might be surprised!
An example that I use many times in this subject has to do with an ERTL catalog years ago. The lead time in that catalog was a steel oil tanker model with the name The Ertl Oil Company on the cab and tanker sides and it was presented as the first item and commanded a two page spread. In those days printing a catalog was a long process and the contents were proofed on three levels, the Company, the Graphic Design house and the Printer. In the company the catalog was proofed by Marketing, Sales and a general clerical staff. As many as 20 to 30 individuals proofed the catalog. It was not until a buyer opened the catalog at the New York Toy Fair and 25K copies had been printed that anyone noticed that The Ertl Oil Company was actual printed as The Ertyl Oil Company.
Who would have thought the company name could be misspelled.
is a good example too. The Layout drawings and preproduction sample were correct but a reversed Tampo plate in the production line set up caused it to be upside down.
Long answer there is a new process of a checklist that will be used and checked at every hurdle including the first model off the production line to minimize the errors. With the new releases I am confident that you will see the progress in this area.
Thanks for the suggestion.
