Good day!
The Code 3 apparatus I do have, I take them out of their packaging and put them on the shelf.
Do most guys do this or do they keep them all covered up?

I them in the domes/cases. Hope this helps!
Open em up and let them breath! I have mine opened and either in my courio case or in a 1/64 fire house. They look much better all opened up and displayed with the ladders up and extended or sitting next to a piece they share a station with in the real world.
Enjoy them! Unless you only collect to make money from them down the road. I do have a double of the Backdraft Ladder I will sell or trade to get a truck I don't have.
