Finally a new release. But for $90?!
So Code 3 announced the April release, a Chicago CF Mack Ladder. I'm not too thrilled as I don't collect vintage equipment. But the problem I REALLY have is the price of $90!!! Of course if you have a membership they have a special sale for a limited time and you can get it for $70. In my opinion, $70 is pushing the limits for a regular price, not $90. I can't believe we've been held in suspense for months to only find out that the prices have skyrocketed. There's just no way I am willing to pay that kind of money for a die cast. I regularly buy 1/18 scale custom police cars for half that amount and it's a 1/18! I'm dreading to see what the prices are going to be for any of the upcoming modern engines. If they are on pace of going as high as this Mack, I guess my days of collecting Code 3's are coming to an end. I just can't justify or afford to shell out this kind of money. Other die cast vehicles I collect, ie 1/18 and 1/24 police cars and 1/53 Tonkin trucks, haven't gone up as drastically as Code 3 has.

And that it is WRONG....Wrong....WRONG....Once again,Code 3 DOES NOT pay attention to their CUSTOMERS!!!
The reason they boosted the price was, I believe, for the new mold and to repair/replace damaged equipment. I understand why they did it, and by no means am I justifying it, but I understand why. Code 3, if you haven't noticed this country is in a recession, and unlike President Obama, most people can't shell out large sums of money on unnecessary things. So, with that said how about $60.00 for members and $70.00 for non-members after the sale. Thanks!
why not join the club and stop whining. Also, why bash my president. The reason they boosted the price was, I believe, for the new mold and to repair/replace damaged equipment. Yeah, I'm not so sure about the "replaced/repaired" equipment. $90 is ridiculous. This release is going to end up on the unsold list for quite some time. The sticker shock is going to deter sales. As you mention, the economy is terrible and will remain terrible for the foreseeable future. Code 3 needs to make a product that is reasonably priced. I was really looking forward to some of the upcoming engines, but if those prices keep track with this one, I can't afford it or better yet just flat our refuse to pay such a ridiculous price. I can get 4 Motormax 1/18 police cars or 2 or 3 Tonkin 1/53 18 wheelers or 2 First Gear ambulances for the same price as this Chicago ladder. I suspect we'll see dramatic price decreases in a few months and those who bought one now will not be happy they paid full price.
$90.00!!!!!! ARE YOU FREAKIN KIDDING ME?????? Oh and donmateo.... what new mold??? That is yet another repaint of the backdraft Truck 46
Although a better release than the old tired Mack C models (Hagerstown), what the hell happened to the price? So now the only way anyone can afford this truck is if they are a "club member" and of course if they skip their car payment this month.... Wow! Code 3 you missed again! I wonder, is it that they won't rest until they have alienated every single collector???
I personally am very disappointed with the price and will not be spending 90.00 for a redecaled release of something that I all ready have (ladder 46) I thought they where going to make an ALF tiller what happened to that ? I also collect DCP tractor trailers and can get something new that they are putting out and still have $25.00 in my pocket so until C3 starts to listen and put out something new that interests me I will be spending my money else where
I was wondering if the proper grill would be done on this piece. It is sad when prices
go way up and details are not met on the model. I am only going to get this piece
because I have every CFD model Code 3 has produced. Please remember ... the devil
is in the details.
Personally, I am not thrilled with either of the releases for 2009. I do like vintage apparatus, but, the Mack C engine and CFD Ladder 15, just look so drab. Chances are that I will not be ordering any Code 3 releases, unless they happen to release a "1/64 scale, Midship mount, straight stick aerial ladder truck" in the near future, or they release a fantastic looking piece that I just can't do without.
