2009 marks the 20th anniversary of the Loma Prieta Quake, after which the City aquired a surplus fireboat from Vancouver. The Guardian is Fireboat #2, and serves as back-up or secondary to Fireboat #1 the Phoenix, which Code 3 has already issued. Here is a link to the SFFD Historical website which details the interesting way the Guardian came to be. BTW, it has a pumping capacity of 24,000 GPM which makes it one of the most robust fireboats in North America.

I believe this would not only honored those lost in the '89 Quake, but would serve as a great addition to collectors that have the Fireboat Phoenix
