How about a Pumper Tanker/ or a suburb/Rural Fire Truck

I have been a collector of Code 3 since 1999, and I am a firefighter in a smaller town, as are thousands of other firefighters around the country. Many of us use pumper tankers to get the job done, and code 3 hasn't even touched those yet. I've included a few examples. Interested to hear what people think.

Those are great trucks! I think the only problem would be the price of the new molds.

very nice rigs... i really like the first one. the second looks like something from space.....

Is the first one from your own department... ?? would really like to see some more shots of that rig..

i also think it would be a sell out in no time, but again the cost of tools and all the other stuff will surely be the thing to stop this going to production...

If they have introduce new tooling for the model then they'll want to be able to use that tooling for more than one model - I don't think we'll ever see the likes of a Super Pumper set ever again. So places like LA Chicago and New York that have a multitude of very similar vehicles are popular choices. That said Code 3 have resisted the urge to model the worlds largest volunteer fire service which would get you that tanker you've been looking for. Whats more being built on a commercial chassis the cab could be utilised for a number of different variants.

How about some shots of the Eagan FD trucks all together?

To tell you the truth, the 2nd Pumper/tanker is mine (Cottage Grove, MN). It is a Custom Fire Pumper tanker. The top one, Eagan, MN is a 2005 Pierce Pumper Tanker. I understand the tooling is expensive, BUT from reading a lot of replies, that is what people (including myself) want - new models, not just slap on a new coat of paint and a hose or two.

As reqested, here are more Eagan FD trucks.

I forgot to add this, the Hugo, MN pumper tanker - new truck. HUGE, but again something different.

Hi again

yep, we can agree that people want new models, but its not up to us to decide. If the company(C3) don´t have the dollars to develop the model we´re not gonna see it. If they don´t want to produce it, because they have to get a mold lasting for atleast 3-4 models to earn back the cost, then again, we´re not gonna see it.

Due to the fact of crisis in the finanses all over the world, it´s more likely to see some more repaints, due to the fact that companies all over the world is laying people of, are carefull about spending money, growing rates on freight from china etc....

i would be surprised if we see more than 1 new mold next year.... i bet will see some of the old molds, like crash, ambo, command, and crown getting back to the program again. the new mold we´ll see will in my opinion by either a new tooled quantum, velocity or a new tooled seagrave. this according to the fact, that there will be little cost in remaking the tool...

again, i can´t decide the future, but this is just my opinion on the year to come.

PS. Hopster do you have a walkaround group of photos of the 1st. posted rig (the pierce). Then put them up....

The Eagan set would be a sure sell out due to their originality and cool color combo.

I too would love to see some pumper-tankers. But as stated several times before, the cost of the mold would be prohibitive. There certainly are a lot of beautiful rigs out there, the problem is they are all highly customized to their Departments needs. I would venture to guess you would not find two trucks that are even close, unless of course they are from the same department. Here is my personal favorite :)

I agree, the problem when you get into the "rural" side of things, a lot of things are custom designed, because each department has it's own needs.

I do not have a walk around set of the pierce pumper/tanker. All the Eagan pictures were taken at the Burnsville, MN fire muster (Held September each year, parade has well over 100 fire trucks from around the Twin Cities.)

I understand that the costs for a new mold would be quite high, (If they woud chose to do this they would need to find a pumper tanker design that has been sold to multiple departments) but, as several collectors have been posting, they (and I) are tired of the repaints. I think if Code 3 continues to only produce the repaints of pretty much the same set of trucks the number of collector club members will drop, followed by sales overall.

you might be right Hoopstere3145, but non the less. C3 is a business and they have to consider the cost of production of each and evry rig they make. i have no doubt that we´ll see alot of repaints in the upcoming years. They simply in theese times have to keep the change in the pocket.
If the collectors will turn their back on them i don´t think that.
If they kepp making repaints of NY rigs (fdny), then i have no doubt that they will be in the market. there will always be customers out there to buy even repaints, aslong as it says fdny on the box. Perhaps some collectors will run out of the door, but mostly will remain true customers.
They will then throw us a little bone once or twice in every year, with a newtooled mold. retooled just a little to satisfy the demand for progress. but i don´t think we´ll see completly new molds in 2009.

Before they go into making new molds, there are a lot of different things they have to adress first. Customerservice, Collector club membership, qualitycontrol, getting in touch with the collectors again. and finally pay attention to what the customers are saying. before theese things are implemented in the company again, the focus wont be on new molds.

if you take a look of all complaints on this and other boards, they have a big hill to climb before reaching the finishline, in coming to terms which the customers can relate to and can accept. I bed my ass that if they count up the number og people who has the membership, it will have dropped around 10-20 % in the last 2-3 years. that they have to attend, thats the basics of their company....

I wouldn't really mind some "repaints" from years past... but most of the repaints have been from the last few years, and it is the SAME mold repainted over and over!

(Dash Ladders/towers, ALF Ladders etc where they only produced a few and quit).

I agree that FDNY sells (not with me, but with a lot) because they are 1, the most recognizable department in the world, and 2 they have dedicated collectors that want to collect all the department they produce. For them (FDNY collectors) it is good with the approach that Code 3 has been taking - and there is nothing wrong with that. For those of us who aren't a fan of collecting FDNY trucks, it has turned into a let down.

That is why I introduced the idea of a pumper tanker, to see people's interest, and just to see a new Idea. It does seem that almost everyone LIKES the idea, but agree that it is an uphill road to turn an idea into a realaty.

Here is another pumper tanker from the area that I found. Lake Elmo, MN (Just 5 miles east of St. Paul. 2007 Pumper/Tanker. 75,000lbs!) General/Rosenbaurer
