I have been collecting toy firetrucks and emergency service vehicles for 30 yrs. I am a firefighter/chief officer and it is in my blood from family tradition. I have approx. 1100 toys in my collection including every CODE 3
that has been manufactured since 1997. I have a very close friend who has a collection double the size of mine. I would like to show some photo's but I do not know how to, or where to post them, maybe someone can advise me. Thanks, this is my first reply on this forum. I have several friends that are members of FDNY and get to visit their house's when in NYC, I too am a big FDNY fan/buff because I realize what it takes to do their job in the city.

Since my early childhood, I was always facinated by fire apparatus. The sound of the engine when the pump is operating, the smell from the smoke permiated in the old linen jacketed fire hose,
and when you put your ear at the end of a hard suction hose, you can hear a squadron of propeller
type aircraft. The first fire truck I was ever to climb abord was a 1954 GMC, Barton Anerican, engine, #4 with a roof mount ladder rack. The engine was white with red fenders, operated by the Kettering, Ohio Fire Department. This particular engine is now owned by Miles Greenwood, Dayton Ohio Chapter of spaamfaa.org, and can be viewed on that website. As I grew older, we moved into the city of Dayton, Ohio, where I became mobile with my trusty bicycle, and road to nearly all of the fire stations. At that time Dayton ran mostly 1946-1958 Seagrave Sedan Engines, and Seagrave Midship mounted straight stick 65 foot aerial ladders, and one 1957 Seagrave, TDA 100 foot aerial ladder truck. Thus I bacame aware of the many different makes, models, and characteristics.   That is why I collect Fire Trucks.

I am a fire fighter outside St.Louis.  I have been a fire fighter for 25 years and am currently at the 1's house on the 100' platform.  I have been collecting fire trucks on and off for about 20 years.  I am concentrating on the code 3 FDNY and Chicago trucks now.  If I could do it all over again, I would have applied with the FDNY right out of the Air Force fire service when I was 20 years younger. Those guys have my respect and they should know their brothers will never be forgotten.
A dream of mine is to be able to go visit and ride with those guys for a few days and just live seeing what it's like to be an FDNY fire fighter for just a few days.

I've been collecting for about 8yrs and I am a volunteer firefighter in Valley Forge just outside of Philadelphia. And model fire trucks just facinate me because the work of the detail that the people put in is just amazing.
