What about a new TDA from F.D.N.Y. ???

From the European point of view a tractor drawn areal is the most typical American firefighting vehicle. I am the owner of a Code 3 collection that contains round about 60 models from F.D.N.Y. But ther is not any TDA that would be compatible to quality of the models issued in the last years. The old model of ladder 147 seemes to be a toytruck in comparrison to for instance the "10-Truck". There is a gap to be closed.
Would be nice, if anyone could acompany this thinking.
At last: Please pardon my bad American English as my nativ language is German.

The tiller truck and airielscope are both well overdue for renewal.
They would be a welcome addition.

I agree too I would love for them to make an FDNY tillerd areial. I would be good to make ladder 6 to go with Engine 9. Sry about the bad qulity pic.

Yes a modern TDA would be nice, but how about a ALF from the 1960's with the added riot roofs, and if there is anybody out there who has pictures of those old TDA's could you share them with us.

Thanks for this oppinion. A TDA that fits together with the Super Pumper System would be nice, for instance Ladder 158 as to be seen in "New York Fire Trucks" by Sorenson&Wood, Krause Publications, 2002. Its an ALF 100-foot aerial from 1968. I think the cabin should not be a problem for the modelmakers of Code 3 because they have already an ALF pumper.

In 2005 the Code3 club newsletter showed a beautiful pre-production prototype of an ALF 900 series TDA, which at that time was discribed as a quarter 4/ 2005 release.

All of the shown detail indicated this model to become an FDNY laddder co.!!!

Unfortunately the "upload file" function of this forum does´nt exist/ work on my pc, so that I can´t share the picture with you.

Maybe anyone else is able to help???

Two cents for the post...

Please don't forget FDNY Ladder 20 "So Ho"! (perhaps with a Station, oh and if it's not TOO MUCH trouble, a new mold for the, sadly retired, Freightliner / ALF FDNY Rescue 6 (God Bless the "Six in the City"))

A 64th scale FDNY tiller would easily sell-out. I like the set idea (Manhattan companies?) Code 3 did TDAs with frequency for awhile, but I think it has been ~4 years since one has come out. If I see another Pierce engine I will vomit. I was ordering 4-5 trucks per year including the FDNY rescue set, Squad set, and Chicago set, but 2008 was NOT inspiring.

I agree: 2008 was NOT inspiring. Newsletters getting longer and longer, only containing stories. But I want to increase my Fire fighting vehicle collection and not my library. And to my opinion a collection that shows the different vehicles for different purposes is worth more than a collection of colurful variations of one and the same pumper! So what about new tools for a new TDA from F.D.N.Y.?

I'm all for new TDA's, I'd like to see some FDNY tillers, maybe LA City and County, and also maybe some Detroit tillers as well.  I've seen some nice 2001 ALF/LTI 100' TDA's and 2001 Pierce 100' TDA's from Detroit.  Perhaps Code 3 could even do a "Then & Now" set of Detroit's Ladder 13.  The Ladder 13 I remember from growing up and going to the station with my father was a 1977 ALF 100' tiller that was in front line service until it was replaced by a 2003 Pierce rear mount 100' aerial (this rig was just recently destroyed on March 1 when the idiot driving it parked the rig on train tracks which got hit by an Amtrak commuter train shortly thereafter.  Luckily no firefighters were injured.)

I've attached a pic of Detroit's old '77 ALF tiller Ladder 13.  This pic was taken on 7/28/1999.  I remember Ladder 13 originally having a single clear beacon on the roof from when I used to go to their quarters and not that goofy looking lightbar.

This really needs to be produced. Great company graphics. The Enigine 9 is a must as well.

Hi

i think the TDA mold needs a big overhaul to fit the new FDNY tillers... that again means a buck load of tooling dollars, that we all know isen´t there... Now we are getting a tiller, in the ALF shape... that will be great....
