I just completed moving my entire collection to a bigger room and I found a problem with the Honolulu Ladder 5 and Washington DC Truck 17 both of which are both Seagrave TDA's. I found that the bottom black molded chassis has warped. Both on the Tractor and the Rear Body. The warping on the tractor has resulted in the bumper tilting up and curving in from the sides. The rear body chassis caused the Washington rig to actually bend the body. Here are three pics showing what I mean. You can probably see from the pictures that they have been display in clear acrylic display cases attached to the wall. They were in a room with Blackout curtains so no sunlight had any contact with them. There were two other TDA's in that case, the Baltimore and Chino Valley. Neither of these has any problem.

Has anyone else noticed this problem.

The same thing happened with my FDNY B of T Seagrave tiller, as well as a Baltimore City Seagrave tiller!

I'm sure it can all be blamed on the earthquake in China.

Seriously, it probably is from substandard materials when they made these. When I compare some of the older C3's to the newer ones, there is a definite difference in manufacturing quality. I used to have a rather large HO train set and would find this problem with warping sometimes. Just poor quality plastic.

I have a Corgi Tiller Truck and so far it is as straight as when I bought the truck.

I too have a corgi tiller and like FDNY mine is unchanged from when I bought it.  I am going to have to dig into that storage area to check my C-3 tillers (I have so many replicas that I have to "rotate" the stock).  I will be gravely disappointed but not really surprised if the same holds for my tillers...
