Only like 500, but just a limited re-release.

If you rerelease Ladder10 in 1/64 it no longer is a collectible but just a toy firetruck.

Ed, get a life, its only a toy fire truck anyway.
It only means you wont be able to sell any for $200.(lol)

No Ed, you said that if they made MORE, "it no longer is a collectible but just a toy firetruck" so they dont have to make them for $10, just make more.

No. Obviously they could make 5,000 to 10,000 more and they would sell out easily, but that's the point. There is something to be said about the collectibility of the original 10 truck. I missed out, and for a long time couldn't afford one on Ebay. I finally wrangled one for $200 when I had the extra cash to do so. That's the point. If they are supposed to be "collectibles" there has to be a collectible aspect to them. In the case of Code 3, it's the limit production that drives the value in the secondary market and the "collectibility" so to speak. If Code 3 did open ended or secondary runs of many of thier more popular models, it would deflate that collectibility simply becuase collectors would know once it sold out, there is likely a second run coming. Sort of like a sold out concert, knowing they'll add a second show, you continue to stand in line. One night only, and you're sleeping on the sidewalk.
If you re-release 10 Truck, then you open the floodgates for so many more hard to find models that people missed out on. Another run of Chicago E92? How about another 500 Lafayette Quantums, or more Tarrytown Ladders? Missed out on Ventura County ME40? Well, let's do another 1,000 for everyone who didn't get one.
The limit was set, they sold out, and that's the end of it. Not everyone has one, and that's what makes it collectible.

The point is, they are still collectible.
When they first come out, they did a 25,000 run, and I still have every one, so mass produced or not they are still collectible, what Ed possibly meant, is they are not VALUABLE.(LOL)

In April 1997 when C3 started the 1/64 line of Fire Apparatus they only made the Seagrave Engine. Six Fire Departments were represented and the runs were 5000 to begin with for each item number. The Honolulu Engines were the first produced in less than 5000 and that was in November 1997 and their run was 3000 pieces. Of the 288 or so C3 Item Numbers for Vehicles, Boats and Firehouses produced between 1997 and 2002, the only units made in lots of 25000 were the FDNY Saulsbury Heavy Rescue 1, 3 and 5 and four Suburbans, Verplank, Winter Park, East Windsor and the Paramedic Hospital Suburban. That was in 1998. The next largest run was 20000 for the LA County Dodge. The largest C3 run was 25000 and the smallest was 192. The normal run was between 3000 and 5000.

The point I was making, was that each city was produced in 25,000 quantity, although it was 5000 per truck number, it still equated to a 25000 run per city, untill the hoholulu, at 3000 per truck number, 15,000.
Another thing you have to consider also, was that code 3 had another outlet in canada, and they produced another run with french wording on the packaging, and code 3 had NEVER admitted how many extra thousands were produced to be sold in Canada.

It is a special truck, but releasing 500 more is not the answer, and is not really in Code 3's best interest. To go back and re-do a release that's now a few years old, is probably more trouble than it's worth.
They originally did 10,002. Give or take a few that broke, and a few that were held back for employees and FDNY, there are nearly 10,000 1/64 ladder 10s out there. What purpose would releasing another 500 serve? Obviously, people who did not get one, want to see it re-released so they can get a second chance. At 500, they would be gone so fast, hoared by the ebayers, and again, people are going to miss out. So what then, release another 500, and then another 500, and another 500 until everyone who wants one gets one?
Now, if Code 3 released a Pre-9/11 Ladder 10, with a limited run, say 750, that would be worth it's weight in gold.

I will just throw my 2 cents in here if I may. Every one has good points but I would love to see them re issue the 10 Truck because I was not in to collecting Code3 trucks when it was issued and missed out on getting one and can not afford the prices that they are getting for them on Ebay or from dealers who are jacking the prices sky high for them because I am on a limited budget and can't justify paying 200.00+ for one of them. Thank you for letting my vent

No, but it's 500 more people that would have them! And FYI I have one, so, thats not why I did this. Its just a promotional thing. It's something they could make more easily than another mold or a shelf-sitting repaint!

The whole point is they are collectibles. If any collectible business starts reissuing items, they no longer are collectibles. The true "value" of collecting is to hopefully see your item go up in value because only a set number were produced. If C3 were to start reissuing ANY model, it would lower the value of many, because others would have to assume they would do the same for more demanded reissues. While I can appreciate not wanting to spend a boat load on Ebay to get a model you like, it's not fair to the collecting community at large to do so. That is the same as saying I never got to own a 1949 Ford and now I want them to build a new one just for me. Not going to happen and Code 3 is not going to reissue older releases.

C.O.L.L.E.C.T.I.B.L.E.S......so some of you missed out by foul means or fair so because of this you now want to destroy the collectibility (and or value if you see it that way)of these models for others by releasing thousands more. How does that work?? I also have one that I won't be selling..it goes with the Engine and house...great set.
If they released it again it would be a "shelf sitting repaint"...and when it was released originally it was promoted extremely well and at the right time, hence there are none around.
I too would like a pre 9/11 L10.
