I would love to see Code 3 do a reproduction of an E-One Bronto from any department. These are high tech aerial units and would make a great addition to the Code 3 line-up.

There "supposedly" is a Bronto in production, but personally, I think we should have seen it by now. First, the issue holding it up was packaging. Then, we were told that they couldn't get the boom to stay up by itself. It's been a while since we heard that, and well over a year since the "packaging" issue was mentioned. Don't know where it is, or even IF it is.

Then again, four years ago, I was told - face to face - by a higher-up in Code 3 that the "deal was done, and the ink was dry" in reference to Spartan. I later found out that no such deal was ever signed. Hopefully the Bronto talk isn't along those lines as well.

Personally, I wish they'd do BOTH things!

The three biggest mistakes Code 3 has made, in my opinion, are:

From a business standpoint, the SPS. I can't understand how they thought they'd ever recoup the costs of producing the thing, and I think it put them in an gaping hole for years to come.

From a R&D standpoint, the Century. If that had been dead on, they could have released 10 of those a year and I don't think anyone would complain and have departments GALORE to choose from.

And from a Customer Releations standpoint, the Bronto. (The recently solved 900 mystery was tops until they all of sudden they miraculously found the blueprints  Undecided )

When word leaked out 2 years ago, 2 YEARS, that a Bronto was in the works and all that was needed was to fix some packaging problem, it created a furvor in the collecting community that I don't think has been equaled since. I had visions of Phoenix and Anaheim dancing in my head. Then it was the boom won't stay up, and now we haven't heard squat in forever regarding the Bronto.

What's happened since has been negative for the company twofold. First, all of us who were really excited about the Bronto have pretty much soured on Code 3 for the lack of product or even news since we first heard of it. It becomes a  relations nightmare, in that they said it was coming, it never came, or hasn't to this point, and we're all left scratching our heads.

Second, a lot of people really start to question what you can and can't believe with Code 3. Is it packaging? Is it a boom issue? Was there even really a Bronto at all? That carries over across the board, with collectors wondering of they can really trust anything that comes from Code 3's mouth.

Something like the Bronto will (or would) be huge for the company. Reasonably priced, the first edition is going to sell out in minutes, regardless of where it's from, North, South, East, or West. The simple fact that it's released will be enough to get it sold out right away. I'm in the minute it's released, doesn't matter where it's from. The second and third releases will likely also be sell outs as well, but I think it will be driven more by what it's decorated as then than simply the fact it's a Bronto. I'll buy Phoenix, Anahiem and any that are bright and colorfull. They will sell and they will make thier money back on it and then some.

This is where I hold JD to task. We've been asking for it, your company has said it was "just about done" now where is it? Tell us if it's really coming, hit a snag, or a dead issue so we can all move on.

« MY OLD TOPIC »

I've opened this topic not necessarely for " Toronto fire trucks " but above all for the " E-One bronto Skylift " apparatus. Toronto is not the only one to possess this type of vehicules. On You Tube videos we can see one of Manchester. I think that the diecast would be made from anywhere and why not with only demo colors ( red & white ) ? I'm also conscious that the price of the diecast would be pricy but I'm ready to pay a good price for it and I'm sure that I'm not alone who is interested by this great model !
Have a nice day !

Code 3 themselves actually announced at the Past Time Hobbies Code 3 day, long about 2 years ago, that they had an E-One Bronto in the works. At the time, they said they were having packaging problems and that it was only a few months off from seeing the light of day. That day came and went and then Code 3 said that the problem that they had run into was they could not keep the boom up on it's own. That's the last we've heard of it, about a year and half ago.

I also read that on one of the boards at the time. I didn't hear that day and, in an e-mail from Scott S. he didn't know where that rumor came from.
