I know ya'll made the models for Truck 8, Quint 9, and Engine 7, but now FTW is just about to finally get rid of all the Freightliners by replacing them with the Sparton/Rosenbouers. These are a whole lot nicer than the Freightliners. These are the Cabovers with the CAVS. I was just wondering if ya'll would be coming back to FTW to do a new model on these new rigs. Thanks for your time, FF. Don Johnson, Engine 19B, FWFD.
Fort Worth Fire Department Rigs
Don, how did those Freightliners work out? Seems as though FW was the only big department to buy them.
Nobody liked them. We still have around 15 of them as reserves and it's like pulling teeth when we have to swap out trucks for maintaince because nobody want's to get in them. Freightliner by itself, to me, is the absolute cheapest and worst truck made. They fall apart way to easy. The room inside the cab is so tight that when it comes time to bunk out you just don't have room to move around. The storage is nothing at all. When we pull the gear of the new Spartons and try to put it on the Freightliners, there is just no room what so ever. I personally am glad they are disappearing. It'll be nice when they are even gone from the reserve fleet, but that will be a little while.
