I know they already done a Emergency Series scales, but I was one of the many that did not get a chance to cash in on buying them. I just found out about this site and this company just a week ago and I'm already hooked, I've been hooked on fire trucks since I was a kid, and loved the show growing up. I've been searching all over the net for fire truck models, and now I've came across these replicas, and I just got my first ones today and I love them, and can't wait to get more. They are a lil costly, but worth it, and I was hoping that code3.net will do another set. I would buy as many as could if need be, just so I can have one, so if any of the big guys from the company reads this, please do one more set, for that kid in all of us that enjoys watching a fire truck roaring down the streets, or watching them on tv. So if its possible please please please do The Emergency Series Set one more time.

Thank you

I wouldn't hold your breath for any more Emergency releases. Too many variables involved. They have to buy rights from Universal, LA County Fire, Dodge, American LaFrance(aka Ward) and General Electric(owns the rights to Crown). That being said I'm sure an updated or upscaled(ie 1/32) release would still sell at an increased price. But the cost to buy those rights is so high, it is probably cost prohibitive.

General Electric (owns the rights to Crown)

Really? That's odd.

And unless somehow they strike a deal with KME (And I have an inside source that says talks broke off as of a year ago) and do a one or two off Ford non-crew cab squad, don't hold your breath for an updated FS51 set either.

Troll Ebay, it's probably your best shot.

I found it odd too that GE owned the rights. On April 23, 1987 the firm’s assets and real estate were sold at auction to GE Railcar Services, a subsidiary of General Electric. General Electric pulled the plug on the subsidiary on May 21, 1991.

Sorry that I don't understand how the copy rights work. Let's say Code3 wants to create 1/32 scale of Squad & Engine 51. Are you saying that they have to buy rights again? So what happen to the rights they bought when they did the FS51 set in 1/64 scale? Can't they use that rights they bought for 1/64 in 1/32 scale?

Depends on the original agreement, but it's likely they would have to start all over from scratch. When they bought the rights to use the "Emergency!" logo and likenesses of the vehicles, chances are they were for the exact number of units that were produced. All three vehicles that could be made were produced by Code 3, the Dodge Squad, the Crown Engine and the Ward LF Engine. There would be little if any reason to enter into an agreement to use the "Emergency!" logo and the "intellectual property" for anything past those unitial units. (Becuase the 1972 Dodge Squad with "51" on the door is so recognizable as part of the "Emergency! TV series, it's considered "intellectual property" and Code 3 would have to pay Universal for the rights to simply put a "51" on the side.)

Add to the fact that they would have to go back to Dodge and secure the rights once again to do the squad. Again, it's likely they paid Dodge to replicate 20,000 1972 Dodge cabs, and didn't leave the agreement open ended. The shape of that cab is copyrighted, you can't just go and make that likeness without paying Dodge. It likely explains why we never saw any additional Dodge squads, marked for actual LACoFD units. A squad 36 or or squad 8 would have been good releases Code 3 could have gone with, but I think it's likely becuase they knew they were going to do 20K of the Squad 51 and no others.

Not to mention these are collectibles, if they were to re-release them they would just become another expensive toy rather than the much sought after collectible.

Honestly, I don't think Code 3 cares one bit about the secondary market. Once they get thier greenbacks for product out the door, if it sells on Ebay for $20 or $200, doesn't matter to them.
