Code 3 Fire/Police Releases

I have been reading all the comments on this forum especially the ones about the Departments’ C3 is or is not making replicas of. Some have asked for databases and lists.

I for one, am of the opinion that we have had enough FDNY and it is evident that I am not alone by the polls. However I won’t go as far as some have on this forum about that issue.

I use to buy every unit they produced. But for now, one of each mold for any individual department is all I want. So now I elect not to buy anymore FDNY or any of the other departments that have already been done, unless it’s a piece from a new mold or with a unique paint scheme or graphics that I am truly interested in.

In addition I won’t buy anymore releases that are of apparatus that don’t exist such as the Firehouse Expo, Toy Fair, C3 Christmas releases, Patriot etc. I think these releases would make a good poll to get opinions on.

Because of all the comments about who has what and who is being represented adequately and who is not, I decided to check my list of C3 items and post a synopsis of what C3 has released. I don’t guarantee my list is totally accurate. I have taken it from C3 and several of the dealers on the web as to what they have. One thing I have found is that C3 has some mistakes on their list posted on the website and some of the dealers have C3 items with different numbers then C3 has assigned. Also some are using C3 item numbers that C3 assigned to different items. Slip ups I guess.

For instance, C3 lists item 12396-0000 on the release schedule list as being the 2003 Baltimore Fire Expo Ward LaFrance Pumper with a release date of June 2003. When you click the link you are taken to the page http://www.code3.net/product/detail.asp?item=12396 were a picture of Chicago E-113 is shown.

If you go to the Dealer Exclusives under the Release Schedule at http://www.code3.net/fire/fr_special.asp?id=109 you will find item number 12396-0000 listed as a Pastime Hobbies special release of Chicago E-113 with a release date of July/August 2005.

One of the dealers has 02450 listed as the Windsor Red and Green Seagraves from First Choice Collectibles when C3 has the City of Los Angeles series as 02450.

So basically what I am saying is that don’t hold me to this being 100 % but it should be close.

BY STATE: The number in parens is the number of items released under that Heading or State and the 30- is the number of items for that location or series.

Impressive, I've wanted to do a similar list, but haven't had the time.

BTW, Hollywood isn't a city, it's part of Los Angeles so add in the 5 Hoilywood to the LAFD numbers for a total of 27.

So to further add fuel to the East vs West debate and the apparent East Coast Bias, I broke the releases down into East (Basically the Eastern Time Zone) Mid-America, and West, (Basically Mountain Time zone west) So this is how it breaks down

East: 251 Releases

Mid-America: 75 Releases

West: 77 Releases. 43 of those came in the first 3 years of Code 3's existence.

So yeah, no East Coast bias... Undecided

Nice breakdown. Add that to the fact that 130 of the 251 East releases are FDNY. Yet those guys act is if the world were ending any time we suggest something else.

And of course, the hollywood blue was ficticious.

As also was one (or 2) of the mesa arizona rigs, code 3 added one number to make it a five engine release, as was the norm then.

Wasaga beach was also a non starter, they never ran a seagrave.

Thanks,

I had completely forgotten about the Hollywood Blue and that Hollywood actually belonged LA. Its been along time since I looked at those. Probably since I got them. I put them in the display case and forget them except to just look at the collection as a whole.

There are a couple more that actually come under a larger Department but I just left them by themselves but they still are in the same state which is what I was trying to show for stats.

You listed 4 NYPD releases - other than the 3 ESU trucks, what was the other one? Did I miss one? (The PAPD and NYC Corrections pumper are listed separately, so I assume one of those wasn't included.)

You're right, I didn't catch that one.
