I like the new ford design, maybe code 3 should start doing this!!!
New Fords
Ya my dad bought 7 of the pickup-style ford ambulances, they are awesome!! Love to see code 3 do some!
The crew cab F-350, built in a modular style where interchangeable resin-cast (read:cheaper) boxes could be mated as needed would be great. There's enough they could do with the crew cab that it's definately worth the cost to produce.
As for the LACoFD squad, Ventura County uses the exact same Phenix box as the LACoFD "Heavy" squads (Which carry more equipment for MCIs and such) Two birds one stone. With the modular concept, they can then make all sorts of apparatus with the F-350 cab. There's unlimited possibilities.
But let's get ahead of the curve and go with the new style grille. They'll get more mileage out of it.
And as much as I like the new numbers on the VCFD rigs, the grille numbers just look dumb on the squads. Should have kept the bumper plates.
This is the rear. The LACoFD "Heavy" squads are distinguishable by the enclosed center section of the box, where the standard squad has an open area where they keep things like the blower.
Personally I like Squad 50 better, it would be perfect to pair with Engine 50, but it has the older style grille. (I wonder if something like that could be interchangeable)
The numbers look a little better on the black grille, but still think they're kinda wierd on the squads.
