Well, in the most recent "latest news from Code 3", it seems that at a minimum, JD has taken note of this thread. Unfortunately, it seems that that may well be all that was done. While JD states "Other than an affirmative response on my part, yes, I hear you and I am listening" Code 3 has yet to bring the workshop up to the standard that was in the past, and demanded by most of the collectors on the forum. As to the many collectors who have voiced concern over the continued FDNY repaints, JD's response was attributable to the corporate bottom line, "Authentic FDNY replicas sell and this cannot be disputed", however, while everyone can appreciate FDNY and the bottom line, the main underlying argument of the collectors on this forum is the repaints of the engines and truck companies, more than FDNY in particular. With a department that has such varied appratus as bruch trucks, satellite trucks, ect., code 3 could continue with an FDNY line, while at the same time satisfying the cry for no more fdny engine and truck repaints. As for FDNY representing 5 releases in 2008, of a total of 21 releases, again JD has missed the point of many colletors who have stated on this forum no more FDNY, it is not FDNY itself, it is, again i state, the repaints of engines and truck companies instead of producing some of the more interesting FDNY appratus. As for the reference of the Chicago release this year, again it was a repaint, nothing new, nothing exciting, especially when Chicago has upgraded their fleet of apparatus. JD may be saying he is listening, but in the end, one has to wonder if he is listening to good old Frank Sinatra singing "I did it my way"
