only re-enforces the "vocal minority" belief that our comments are neither respected, nor taken seriously.

All one has to do is click on your "blog" and see page after page of personal insults to John Dunkel from you. You attack him personally, you attacked his military career and you attacked his company. Do you honestly think he either respects you or your comments? You crossed over the line on day one, and you havent stopped. With each post your audience grows smaller and smaller. I find it unthinkable that anyone agrees with you any longer, but surely someone will.

No matter what anyone is saying, no matter what anyone does Dunkel is only listening to a certian few people who have his ear and speak the things he wants to hear.

I have to laugh quite heartily at most of the comments posted herin, as they resonate the same emotions and concerns I stated many months ago at FE.net but were rejected ipso facto. I was chastized by many and even threatened by a few.

What a joke this whole situation has become. C3/ Matrix/ Dunkel will only listen to the voices which parallel their philosophy: we don't need input from Members, we need input from those who only wish to advance their own adgendas. I have tried in any number of a hundred ways to make contact with "Dunkel&Co" only to be rebuffed, ignored or otherwise rejected. Do yourselves a favor, start a model acessory/building/bashing website and build your reputation on the backs of Folks who are intelligent, concerned, helpful and reputable; then go to work for C3, Boley, Motor Max and others and then tell the Folks you walked over to shut up and stop vocalizing their opinions because they're defamatory to the Company.

Unless you love everything that C3 produces and defend it to the end, you'll never get a buzz from them. Only the blind, ignorant and feeble minded will continue to accept the these conditions. I guess that's why this Forum has gone to the kids.

Listening is only one part of COMMUNICATING, if you don't comprehend, then ask questions, you've lost the art.

Broadside? Hardly. I'll take station off your starboard quarter, and run my guns out in support.

Even if your posts fall upon deaf ears or unreading eyes, at least they are readable, enjoyable, and contribute something other than semi-literate insults or half-baked wish lists to this wild and lawless place.

Man the foc'sal, batten down the hatches, clean sweepdown fore and aft, no garbage off the fantail, sweepers man your brooms, forward section air bedding ...

CAPTIAN, WHAT'S THIS ABOUT NO MOVIE TONIGHT ???

Alas, even though I've recieved cover on my flank (many thanks given to my Friend), I think this place and the premise for which it stands  has fallen below any standard for R&D or any other conceivable use, other than to retire the complaints and consternation which were untolerable at FE.net. because of the politics of the providers.

With no one trying to make sense of it all, and Dunkel sitting in obeyance under the guise of herald bearer, there is no use in protesting about the problems, nor will answers be divulged here. The joke is in the fact that if this Forum was opened to organize information for use by C3, it's no wonder they're lost in excuses and romantic revealations about the future. This farce has simply become a receptacle for the flotsam and jetsom of the hobby and has also attained the rank of "Laughing Stock" in the cyber world (Just read the comments on other Boards).

If there is to be any turn around at C3, they should pay attention here (by way of moderation) and the persons who said they would answer questions begin answering them. Otherwise, C3 should change the name of this Forum to C4, insert a cap and some prima-cord and let fly!

Oh the hypocrisy. The "moderation" you advocate for here is the same moderation that you railed against on Fireengines.net Give me a break!

I don't like moderated forums, either. The temptation for a "moderator" to adopt a "do as I say, not as I do" position, or moderate-away any post that disagrees with his own opinions is just too great.

The result of moderation is that information isn't freely exchanged. Some people who have an opposing viewpoint discover that their opinions aren't wanted by those who prefer to follow an illusion, like paying more for less quality.

Another result of moderation is that "anonymous" posters who agree with the moderator's agenda can be allowed to malign someone's character publicly, and those who speak out against that will be deleted.

All that is needed here is a little bit of discipline and forethought about what is being posted, and enough maturity to avoid flaming someone who either doesn't agree with you, or just won't jump on your bandwagon. If you want people to take you seriously, then get serious.

The moderation I speak of is NOT that found at FE.net, but more the type outlined by my Friend Stepjam.

The intelligent moderation of ones own thoughts, the logical expression of the thought and the construction of the post is what I speak of. This Board has none of that, thusly causing it to become the toilet it is.

The Moderation at FE.net is to advance their adgendas, not to maintain the intelligence level and informational value of the posts. The prevention of the expression of dissenting opinions there has demeaned the Member who presents the intelligent, logical, informational post and given it over to the juvenile hijinks which are rampant here. Allowing only pro or con opinions is not communicating, it's dictatorship.

If those who opened this Forum took interest in the information and routinely communicated with the Members as was advertised, then this place would have much more merit, and the type of Moderation excersised at FE.net wouldn't be required.

This is not hypocrisy, it's a Hypocratic Oath which we should all follow, and this includes C3.

One-One-Oh to Brooklyn K ... broken promises and unfulfilled commitments are at the heart of this matter

"Moderation" in the form of babysitting, housekeeping, deleting of flame wars, etc., is long overdue here. The "rule with an iron fist, and delete anything with the slightest hint of negativity to it, regardless of how well worded" kind of behavior can stay where it is.

There's simply no reason why half of the nonsense which inhibits this board should still be visible, and the inability of the participants to "police themselves" is what led to the downfall of earlier incarnations of this place.

But, as we all know, Code 3 claimed for years that they didn't have the time or manpower to monitor the board constantly, and they had a much bigger staff back then. So, I guess it's up to us to make this place what it is, or should be, at least.

It has nothing to do with one's own "personal agenda". Simply a matter of common sense and mature behavior, regardless of one's age. Nothing wrong with a little "inside joke" here and there, but the childish name calling and the like really needs to be ended. Not really all that hard to deal with......or so I'd like to think.

I suggested U.S. production on THIS forum and was immediately shot down and criticized! They said the price would double, i say bullshit, but hey, i guess you an' me are the only ones who think the economy is in a slump! If Ford can produce vehicles in the U.S. and give massive discounts and still survive, then C3 can probably do the same! AND, not to mention the 100's of jobs it creates, and you wouldnt have to ship as far! We need a strong economy to protect our country from terrorism!

OK, then who do you propose will eat the difference in cost?

There's a REASON why these models are produced in China, and it hasn't a damn thing to do with any kind of patriotism or the economy of America. The bottom line here is CHEAP LABOR! You think you're going to find Americans, in this day and age, who will do that job for the same pay as what the Chinese are getting? That is, if you could find American workers who could do the same job as good, or better, to begin with.

If Code 3 models were produced in America, and were of the same (or better) quality than they are now, I have to believe that the cost to us would be considerably higher. Maybe not double, maybe more than double. I don't know for a fact, but I'm pretty sure that paying a factory full of American people a liveable wage would far surpass the costs of shipping a few crates over here. That money has to come from somewhere. Guess where? OUR POCKETS!

Many collectors already complain about the costs now. Why beg for a way to raise them even higher?

Yes, I did, but as the old saying goes, you are comparing "apples and oranges". Two entirely different things.

Well, does this weeks newsletter from JD have any substance at all. I guess we who are referred to as the vocal minority are not worthy of a substantive weekly newsletter. No explanation for not, at least, posting the pictures for the months release, even though we are half way through the month. And interestingly, has anyone taken note of the fact that the pasttime hobbies day will feature models for 2009. JD and the bunch can produce the 2009 lineup for the few lucky enough to be near pasttime hobbies, yet he cannot post anything here. Way to go JD, thats really listening, as you said you were just a few weeks ago. perhaps a marketing class at a local college might be considered. AGAIN, JD, YOU DID IT YOUR WAY.

Come on jmiiiesq, how many legal briefs have you written containing little or no substance at all?  Bet you lost the case, didn't you?

Congratulations on your inproved writting skills.   It is amazing what a writting "class at a local college" can do!

Actually, Ford produces a majority of its vehicles in Mexico. Ross Perot (You're probably too young to know who that is) was 100% right about NAFTA.

The problem with producing product here in the U.S., is that Americans will want a "living" wage, and depending on where you live, that can be as high as $15 an hour, and immigranty labor, while they tendsto be a cheaper source of labor, comes with less skills and less attention to detail. If everyone on the Code 3 assembly line is making $12-15 an hour, as opposed to the about $5 a day that Asian labor gets, the prices of Code 3 models will be close to unaffordable to nearly everyone. That would do nothing for the economy, A: Becuase 1,500 toy fire trucks is not even a blip onb the economic radar, and B: they would be so expensive, no one would buy them.

Not to mention the even American made vehicles are put together with parts made overseas in Asia and elsewhere.

Most 1/1 scale ("real") vehicles are assembled by machines. Die-cast miniature replicas are assembled and decorated by hand, something skilled workers in China and elsewhere have done quite well for many years. Just look at the kitbash/custom pages to see the results of what happens when Americans try it. Some are very good, some not so much....and may or may not improve with practice. And, they already had the foundation parts to work with. I'm not at all slamming the lesser quality efforts, but that's not the guy I want building something I'm laying out my hard-earned money (what little there is of it) for.

The more I think of it, there IS actually a precedent of die-cast vehicles produced in America. Tractor-trailers made by Winross and Penjoy are (or were) both produced in the good ol' US of A. Both have their followings of fans, and in and of themselves are not bad products. But, place one next to the latest offerings of DCP or First Gear, and there simply is no comparison. Not to mention the fact that a handful of the last incarnation of Winross' products had issues with wheels that didn't want to stay on, etc. The quality was already starting to slip back then.

I honestly don't know if it's possible that the level of detail and such that we've come to expect from DCP, Code 3, etc. could be achieved on American soil, but as was said by both myself and others, the cost of paying American labor would not make it worthwhile to find out.
