There's no one here on this board who would like to see more Ventura County Apparatus than myself. I was raised in Ventura County, work in my TV station's Ventura County Bureau, was formerly a contract photographer with VCFD, have a number of close friends who are FFs with the department, spent countless hours at many of the department's stations and riding thier apparatus, and have thousands of photographs of both apparatus and incidents over the past 20+ years.

All that said, we're NEVER going to see HM50 or Dozer 3. First of all, they're too unique of apparatus for Code 3 to spend the THOUSANDS of dollars to create a die-cast mold for. Nothing exists from any company for any of part of those particular pieces of apparatus, even the Norscott 1/64 D6R is out of production, and would take a large amount of work to get up to Code 3's standards and accuracy.. (SAFE-T cab, other FD-specific details) Add to the fact that with HM50, there is no other use for the mold from any FD anywhere. The trailer is a one-of-a-kind modified former moving van. It would be a one-and-done, which is completely cost-prohibitive. With Dozer 3, although the D6R is used by a good number of departments, the transport tractors are all different. CDF is a large Mack customer, LACo is running Frieghtliner tractors, Ventura County uses Kenworth. Add to the fact there are no non-sleeper cab versions of any of these rigs to be found from any company (Believe me I've looked) so Code 3 would have to start from scratch, which again costs money.

If we're going to see any more VCFD, we're likely going to see another ALF Eagle, with the updated numbering. The only other possibilities with existing Code 3 molds are the Frieghtliner/Luvernes and with some major surgery to existing tooling, the ALF Eagle raised roof USAR. When and IF Code 3 ever releases a ALF Eagle TDA, of course VCFD would be a possibility and the advantage of the Phenix bodies that VCFD uses for thier Paramedic Squads are identical to the LACoFD "Heavy Squads" so there is at least a small minute chance they coulld one day release a squad, but the chances are indeed slim.

Now if they wanted a quick and dirty release, the ALF RM they released a few years ago as RE40 was moved at the begining of July to FS44 and is now numbered as RE44 with the large numbers on the grille and doors. Release that model again with the new numbers and it would still sell well.

Clark County Rescue 21 is close to being out of service if it isn't already. It will be replaced with a Type 3 ambulance that is the norm for CCFD. The only other squad that will be around on a permanent basis is the Red Dog Paramedic Squad at McCarren Airport and it's a lime green color.

In my opinion, CCFD should do away with all of their ambulances and go to a traditional squad like VCFD or LACoFD. CCFD doesn't transport, except firefighters or their immediate families. Private EMS providers(AMR and MedicWest) do all the transporting in unincorporated Clark County and North Las Vegas. Henderson FD transports all their EMS calls and LVFD transports the vast majority of traffic collisions with private ambulance handling the rest. Four years of working the EMS system there and I have to admit there are a lot of dynamics involved between Fire and EMS. Crazy system with a lot of politics.
