Let them spend the money on a better finish of the models

Why, you only pay twenty bucks, why should they give you a free truck????
You get a ten dollar discount on any truck you buy, which some will say, you get from any dealer, SO, LETS SEE IF THE DEALERS WILL GIVE YOU A FREE TRUCK!!!!

I'd rather they bring back the Loyalty Dollar Rewards. I'd pay the $20 if I could get the discount and the Rewards. But to pay $20 just for a discount that can be had at several other sites is foolish.

So going by what you say, I should pay $20 a year to get a $10 discount and a plastic collectors club card that does nothing? If I buy from a dealer I get a $10 discount on all models and I don't have to pay a membership fee. You didn't major in economics did you?

No, my reply was to the question of a free truck, in other words, what do you "friggin" want for your 20 bucks.
As for majoring in economics, you dont major in geography do you, I live in europe, and no dealer will ship to me for the $12 code 3 charges, they all want in excess of 35 bucks per truck, so the economics works for me. The answer I gave was responsive to MY circumstances, not everybodies.

And the answer I gave was mine and others of the US that can go elsewhere for the same price and can spend 20 on better things than a plastic membership card that does nothing and let's not talk about the customer service aspect either. I fully understand for you outside the US customers that it pays to be a member, but for us in the US it makes no sense whatsoever to blow 20 bucks for a membership when we can go other places and get the same product fot the member price.

But you still miss the concept of what the original question was, "should code 3 give a free truck with membership", and I pont out your comment to me about me not "a major in economics", lets apply that to code 3, pay $20 and get a free truck, errrr, economics, I think not!!(LOL)

From a business standpoint it's a money loser to give a truck away for $20. Add that to the fact that membership trucks were garbage anyways.

Exactly on both counts. My membership rigs are packed away in the closet, not one is on display. For a club to work, it would have to be a purchase/loyalty based system. Buy more of thier stuff, they give you points to use towards some sort of reward, a discount on the cost, lower shipping, something like that, but only when you buy a substantial amount of thier product. We're never going to get a free truck ever again, even the fictional club rigs of the past.

Getting a "free" truck with generic markings makes no difference to me. Most of the ones I got I sold or have packed away. I'm with greg3564, I'd rather see the Loyalty rewards program brought back & have a discounted price for club members.

I really liked the "free truck" program.  I wondered how they were able to pull that one off, unless the actual prices for the replicas were Incredibly less than MSRP...   Even so, I did not think it was a wise marketing method at the time, economically speaking that is (but I did appreciate it very much).  So with that, I agree with c3po regarding free trucks in this case…  HOWEVER, up until the free truck program, the only thing I gained by my membership, was the so called “Loyalty Points" and the access to the "workshop".  Unfortunately, and to my dismay, both of those perks faded away rather quickly.

As for those Loyalty Points... BS...    I ordered my 10-Truck Diamond Plate shortly before they announced they were ending the  "Rewards Program".   So I called to verify that I would still get my points on the basis that the program was still in effect when I placed my order and... I ordered my truck before they announced the program was ending.  I was assured that I would in-fact get those Reward Points.     Funny...  To my surprise (feigned shock) I never got the points that I earned.

One more point on Loyalty.... The 10-Trucks emphasize why the word "Loyalty" in Loyalty Rewards was an oxymoron....  If you were loyal and bought those trucks when they came out (as I did, and in both scales) then you, a loyal club member, were later excluded from a Raffle for the “Number 0001 numbered Trucks" that Code-3 used to Reward those who helped clear out some of the 10-Truck stock.  Oh Yea, Yup... that's rewarding loyalty.   You can forget anything related to rewarding customer loyalty...   Fool me once, shame on you.... Fool me twice.... No Way...

Finally, that crap about ordering quickly to get a low numbered truck?  Forget that too as the above example shows us that Code 3 sets aside those low numbers for the "privileged few".  Hmmmm, One wonders how one rates for that exceptional privilege...????

Not all of them were garbage. I still have my "generic" volunteer fire department tanker truck. It actuall;y is a very good representation of what our trucks look like in the rural areas out here before they get that 20 year old faded paint....

they actually had good quality on it, and i do display that truck. However, it is probably not in Code 3's best interest to give away a free truck because that is somewhat of a lost leader when you throw in discounts and loyalty rewards like they used to have.

But, throwing out some killer models with great detailing and and a better member discount might improve the business model. if they plan to discount the trucks, they have to do a better job of discounting them to a point that people will financially see the "light" to join and buy models. like many post i see here, not much point in paying for a membership to get a plastic card....
