The bottom line to all of this is that when Code 3 gave us all the information they also released many more issues than they do at the present time...the ARFF, Ambos', Suburbans etc ...I say get back to the days of different releases to cover everyones budgets. It was a time when even the youngest kid with the smallest budget could afford a suburban on special for $5. Obviously that won't be the case now but I bet a few more releases of what they do have would be a dead cert to walk off the shelves....
for example ...the suburbans in a colourful scheme or plain matt white for decorating ourselves, the F250 of the NYPD..use the cab for a small rescue or ambo, the International they did with NYPD could be used for many other units, Freightliners from ambos and engines could be used on many other issues, an ALF Eagle rescue, issues of unpainted cab/chassis/compartment in a modular format so we can mix and match etc, bags of small parts such as mirrors, lights, beacons, lightbars etc..
Some of these ideas have been requested many, many times over. I am not saying that Code 3 should go broke and release all of these at once but there would be certainly no harm in issuing a plain white cab chassis or bag of parts in a small run to see what happens...it would definitely give them an idea of what we want.
