what do you think about if C3 would release a spare parts kit for their models? Lightbars, mirrors, deck guns and and and? sometimes it would be great to have some to repair the models. And imo they have enough parts in the factory in china

I would love to see them sell parts like deck guns, hose reels, light bars and even cabs chassis and bodies because I am starting to kit bash Code3 trucks with other trucks like the DCP and First Gear 1/64 scale trucks to make some one off trucks for my collection So PLEASE Code3 think about this because there is a ton of people out there like me that would buy these items

I would think it would be a great thing to offer. Those who kitbash.... I'm sorry, I meant to say "those who artistically alter" their own apparatus would no doubt love it. People like me would be happy to just have the parts available to make repairs if a part were to be accidently broken. I would welcome such a venture.  Laughing

Spare parts would be well accepted. At the very least there would be models off the production line that didn't pass quality control. How about setting up a market for these seconds? I have seen them out of China on eBay, particularly the the Diamond Plate models (No certificates)

Well, They have said NO for the last THREE(3) years. Maybe the NEW "President" can get that changed..

Nice to dream. I have to agree with wtevr on this one. Maybe it will change. The reason I got was it wasn't cost effective, and in the eyes of said person it would de-value the model and make it more into a toy.

Great idea but it's a pipe dream. The topic has been raised numerous times, and C3 always says "no."

In Code 3's defense, I can understand their reasoning. Where kitbashers are concerned, there really aren't as many as some may think. Sure, there are a few kitbashers who have huge piles of surplus parts and carcasses, and whose "parts-bins," "death rows" "boneyards" etc. may dwarf some people's collections. The odd start-up kitbasher would have better luck trying to work out something with one of these guys.

I don't think there is a large enough market for parts to entice Code 3 into making them. Most kitbashers just acquire whatever model has the needed parts. There are also a number of aftermarket suppliers that already sell a variety of parts, and the more patient and resourceful among us simply make whatever we need.

I'm not so interested in the parts as I can get most of what I need but blank rigs would be nice and I don't see any problem with C3 doing that. They just don't need to put graphics on a couple dozen of each run and see how it goes. Most of my custom customers don't care if the model is 100% accurate as long as it looks close enough to their truck. It would be cheaper for the customers and a boost in some sales for C3 however small but they would sell.

A parts program is a good idea. It promotes the hobby in a different fashion. The problem is logistics. To inventory the many small parts is a full time job. In addition the parts are very fragile, difficult to identify and the cost to look for one set of parts, assure the parts are the correct type and then package and ship the parts is costly. This does not mean that it can’t be done. I have discussed this with some of the collectors already and I continue to investigate a way to provide parts to those who need them for replacement or for “kit bashing”. With many other issues to address this issue is out prioritized. I will, however, keep on a list for future discussion.

Hi Mr. Dunkel. Thanks for watching and answering my topic. I´d be happy if there would be a solution for both sides. I think the kit basher will pay nearly any prices for missing or broken parts. THANKS ;)

Aren't the parts molded on a "tree" like model cars? Don't sell individual parts. Sell a "tree" for a particular item.i.e.; Parts for the Pierce Top Mount or E-One Tower or You get the picture. You need a Wagon Pipe, you get the whole Tree for that vehicle.
Cost would be reasonable.
