Is this guy for real....everyone should be up in arms complaining....the only thing we get from this guy is "the website is going to be new" (my son could have done this in a week)....and emails about his trips around the U. S. Last week we got an email saying this week we would get another email about the new quarter, and instead we get a world news recap about china...if i wanted that, i would go to CNN....what does it hurt to post in the workshop future models, even if they are delayed...give the loyal customers somthing to look forward to....instead of old pictures and "what would you do with these"....it is about time loyal code three collectors rise up and demand a newsletter as before, that he post future models in the workshop, and he at a minimum stop the damn emails about his trips around the U.S.

I don't like the fact that the models are made in China to begin with. Isn't there an American company that could produce these models, even if it meant paying a little more?

If American production of diecast fire engines were possible, it would probably cost a lot more.

I think it is ridicuolous that the Code 3 Collectors club has taken a turn backwards in my eyes. I want it like it used to be. Better models and customer service and appreciation. I dont care if I have to pay more, the models should be built here in the US.

Good to see I am not the only one not happy. havnt bought A code 3 for sometime, pricing is getting out of hand. I understand there is fantastic detail but the accompaning problem is that they are made in very little quantity.I have code3's since they were sold in toys r us. It sickens me to see them making excuses for China. The other thing is that they need to get of of the New York thing, enough is enough.

I agree with you all...having started this forum...that being said, we are getting off the subject of the president, his useless emails, his lack of updating the workshop...ect......is it to much to ask to let us see the future models....it is not like they have not already decided on them and have them in production......this guy needs a course in marketing....actually, this guy needs to be booted from code 3

I for one am so ticked off on the product quality, the lack of any Quality Control, and ZERO  CUSTOMER SERVICE, that I have not purchased anything from Code-3 since the crap that occured with the Philly Squirt.   There are a number of other reasons I am loosing interest in Code-3 such as the "membership" issue and how they treat "Loyal Customers"...  For ex:  The promotion for those who recently bought the 10 Trucks to get into a drawing for the serial number #1 Trucks.

ARNIE.... JOHN D..... ARE YOU LISTENING..???    That is not how you treat loyal customers.... what about those of us who purchased the 10 Trucks when you first introduced them...???  I for one bought both the 1:64th and the Diamond Plate 10 Trucks. Aren't we loyal customers TOO...??

You should have included ALL Club Members who purchased those trucks...  Not just those who helped you clear off some stock.  You know who we are, or at least you should.  You must keep a record of your membership and their purchases... If not, your the first company that doesn't..!!

Sorry, I digressed.  As you can see I am quite bitter about a few things.  My point is, in spite of this bitterness, I feel John Dunkle should be given a full chance to swim through all that muck that he was thrown into and be given a chance to prove himself and improve things.  In all fairness, I don't think he has been given that yet.  So lets not ask for heads to roll yet, let the smoke clear and then see what you find.

In my opinion we're getting lots of talk & very little action from Code 3. No updated website, no changes to the collectors club, customer service still stinks & a couple of non-FDNY models (sorry folks, I'm tired of the same truck with a different company number). Talk is cheap. I want action!

Remember, John Dunkel did not get Code 3 into the situation it's currently in. He's trying to fix it an it sounds to me like he's making a genuine effort. The changes and improvements will not happen overnight. Give everyone at Code 3 a chance. jmiiiesq, did you read the entire Latest News this week? He did give information on new releases. Also, I'm glad he is traveling to the locations involved in model production so he can see first hand the progress being made and be personally involved in the process.

The "world news" recap was intended to provide reasons for the delays in new releases. Since factories were affected by the earthquake, Olympics, etc., production facilities do, in fact, need to be moved. Do you expect a destroyed or closed factory to produce a quality Code 3 model? I don't. I also don't think CNN provided any information on how world events are affecting Code 3. I do agree, however, that the Workshop needs to be updated more often, it's time for some new Cool Pictures, and, my biggest pet peeve with the site, get rid of the Newsletters page that still shows the 1st Quarter 2006 newsletter.

Overall, I'm happy with the website and know it will only get better. I imagine there is a ton of activity at Code 3 to see that this happens. We just have to be patient.

I am still quite miffed about the whole 1st edition thing on FDNY's 10 Truck which I bought for full price when it first came out. I was in the 1st shipment that went out. I want more from this Company and the collector's club right now just isn't satisfying anything with the removal of all the perks it used to have. I used to buy every month when the trucks came out, but I have stopped buying because I think the company is wasting my time and extra money that the models are now costing. Get it back to the OLD Code 3 and models will fly off the shelf again. Until then they will be collecting dust.

oh please west45, no one is asking for overnight miracles....but its time for John to put up or shut up....the only thing we have gotten from code three this year is same old fdny....a 1/32 scale chicago renumbered, a philly renumbered, and for the most part the only half way decent truck being the florida one....instead of long winded email excuses or recaps of his trips around the country to visit trucks,he should be sending out emails saying hey, this is what we planned for 2008, this is what they look like, sorry for the delay, and we hope you like the 2008 lineup....instead, what we have is to assume we will be getting renumbered fdny, philly and chicago trucks..when we have boston, chicago and philly with brand new trucks they could be working off of....and query, how long would it take to get rid of the 1st quarter 2006 newsletter that is now 2+ years old...ummm, maybe five minutes for my five year old to do....?....perhaps john should take some lessons from him

John Dunkel is not the president of Code 3.

does it really matter what his title is....?....or does it matter that the guy cannot get even the simplest of things going with a company that we all come to love in its prime, and wish someone would just listen to a few suggestions from the core collectors....we are nto kids and do not need to be kept in suspense a to what is around the corner....corgi does not do that....they put it out with a production date

The future of the Code 3 President and Mr Dunkel is absolutely nothing to do with anyone here ...our main reason for being here is because we collect models of fire apparatus, with about a 70% ratio of people whining about what they want ...without any consideration being given to the logistics of their wants.

Sure, listen to us like the SPS? Besides, it does matter what his title is. He has a certain role with the company, and as such, he duties and influences fall within that scope. There's so much more to getting a release done than "Hey John, do this"

But yes, it would be nice to know what's coming around the corner. I have a feeling their production window is razor thin to stay within the monthly release schedule, so it would be difficult to say what a release will be far in advance. But at least tell us what's in the works.

it does to collectors gc1...i do not see hasbro, mattell or corgi, all who put out a much larger volume of toys, all made in china, have the problems code 3 has

You hit the nail right on the head, "Much larger volume of toys." It's easier to mass produce Hot Wheels than it is precisely detailed limited edition run.

With the way our economy is going, it won't be long until Code 3 shifts production to the United States. There will be lots of cheap labor.

We'll see endless worktables manned by formerly unemployed Americans; tatooed, toothless, bikers side by side with surplus MBA grads, all wearing poofy white paper hats and rubber gloves, screwing together 1:64 models of Chinese fire trucks for export.

I seriously doubt that. There's still a federal minimum wage standard, What is it nowadays, $6 and change? These Chinese workers are lucky to get $2 a day, there's no way we'll ever see production switch to the United States.
