I let my membership run out. Why? A few reasons -
1) Benfits did not really help with anything I bought AFTER the change over
2) While Minor there were issues on details with some rigs being made
3) Customer Service was so bad I was unable to order on line, Called 4 times - never got a call back UNTIL I mentioned I was going to just let my membership run out since a MEMBER could not order a rig on the 2nd Day it was released.

I hope someone is listening and might get things ironed out... THEN I might re-join.

I let mine lapse, with the dealers selling releases at the same discounted prices that members get, and no sort of "rewards" program, it's simply not worth it.

I have a few months to run on mine. I'm seriously thinking of not renewing again. No point renewing with no benefits.

As of late, what would be the point of maintaining membership? I mean, what has changed since I let it lapse two years ago?

For $29.95 (or is it $59.95?), you got an ugly, circus-like "members-only" piece, usually reconstituted from some other piece that was undesireable to begin with;

You get a "sneak peek" at upcoming releases, assuming there is one. And when there is, it was all too often FDNY. If watching the unit numbers change on an otherwise generic engine or ladder is all it takes to float your boat, blow up your dress, or tickle your fancy, life must be good indeed!

You get a discount. The same one you get from Past Time Hobbies, or the Fire and Cop Shop, only with less customer service and slower, more expensive shipping.

Don't mean to gripe, but you asked.

I must be one of the lucky ones, as I live in europe, and you cannot beat the shipping charge I get from code 3.
Its still half the price most US dealers whould have to charge me.
Then, its still $40 cheaper than the other so called code 3 collectors from other boards and ebay who always want to rip me off to the tune of $50 to send anything to me. (why is it always $50, when the USPS site states its about $26 ?????)
So, even though the benefits have all disapeared, I am still a happy bunny.

It was nice when you had access to the 'Workshop' and saw something that would eventually come to market, the collectors guide and the 'membership truck'. I remember first joining, getting this huge box with travel bag, truck, key chain, patch, etc.. Not that any of that 'spliff' mattered, with the exception of the 'card', the annual guide and the truck. The occassional 'members only' special every now and then was nice. The rewards program was decent as well. Once all that started to disappear, like stepjam said why pay to be a member just to get a discount, when you can do the same through vendors

I will let my membership lapse for the reasons that everyone has mentioned. Customer Service issues at Code 3 have gotten so bad that why would any colllector place their orders in the big black hole that is the Code 3 Customer Service Dept. when you can go to one of the great resllers and be treated great (and actually recevie the model) for the same price.

I let my membership run out this past January, I had renewed it the prior year believing that things would come, but I really didn’t get my monies worth out of it.

-No news letter
-No sneak peaks
-Discount is the same price as buying form any number of retailers.
-No rescue rewards, which was an incentive to buy from Code 3!
-No club model, the original two I never cared for the two pumpers, but the Tanker and Ladder were decent.

I’m not sure why I or any one would pony up the $20-30 for nothing in return!

I dropped my membership as well. To be honest, there was not a single perk that I could not get anywhere else.

This is the problem with a corporation when it gets to big....They are only catering to the paid departments...I see very few volunteer departments and there is entirly to much FDNY junk in the line up. This shouldn't be Code 3 it shoud be FDNY Collectable's and if Mr. Dunkle will every really read these or watch these... take it to heart I am letting my memebership lapse to...There is no benifits and the guys at Jaydeez Scale Models are awsome to me...A lot better than the circus you run at Code 3....

I really hope that this forum is read and used for the good of the Code 3 lineup! I had been a member since the company began but after 11 years and constantly declining customer service and diminishing rewards programs I let my membership lapse. I also have noticed that it doesnt appear that we the target group of firefighters that helped this company grow really matter to them anymore, has anyone else noticed the lack of advertising for code3 in any of the fire service publications anymore?? SAD!!!! such a great company and great models, seeming to be ruined by big corporate america!!!

I did not see the need to continue it.I get the pieces I want online for the same price,or wait and go to the Firehouse Expo and get almost anything without shipping.

I let my membership lapse due to the lack of apparatus being made that I collect. I realize that C3 is a diecast Firetruck producer first, and others second, but when I joined, the Suburbans and Ambulances were coming out fast and furious and the detail was great - hence why I joined. With the lack of EMS equipment being produced and the problems with customer service, shipping costs etc. I never renewed...

Perhaps the lack of advertising in fire service publications is due to the fact that they dont produce models by the 25,000 anymore, they are not available in all the large stores, and quite possibly the amount they produce now, sell quite adequately between the few dealers and the collectors club members.
Work it out, if they advertised the new smaller scale squad 61 globally, at whatever expense, how many people would be able to get one since it sold out to members in the opening week, before joe public gets a look in.
Code 3 have been around long enough now for people who collect them to know whats coming, where is the need to place adverts in other places at great expense.
Take you for example, you dont need them do you?

I lost everything in Hurricane Katrina, Didnt come to the code3 site because it hurt too much to know everything that I lost. A couple of months ago I came back, joined, and realized I had just been ripped off for $30 by Code 3. I got absolutely nothing for that money but a cheesey membership card. I say boo to them for that. I'm glad that they brought a board back if they do nothing else.

yep, not going to pay membership price for nothing... can buy the trucks at the same price either at dealers on on ebay.....

if they do get the membership benefits up again as in the old days, i will reconsider...

I've been thinking about this and I've got to agree. If it goes back to the old ways (membership guide, a regular update to the workshop, and more membership only releases) this will likely be my last year to renew.

Make very limited very extradinary trucks for those ones that join the club.I have not been a member for a long time because it has not been worth while for club members
